Defeating the flood with the blackening of the ice in the areas of danger of congestion!

2 April 2021, Friday

Rescuers of the Search and Rescue Service of the Republic of Tatarstan in the framework of preventive flood control measures for three days made blackening of ice on an area of 100,000 sq. m. in the proposed place of congestion in the narrow channel of the Vyatka River 13 km above the town of Mamadysh near the mouth of the Arpach River near the settlement of Otarka.
The ice is still quite strong, so rescuers, observing precautions and wearing life jackets, on a snowmobile with a trailer, treated the flood-prone area with sorbent. Describing concentric circles, the rescuers sprinkled the surface of the ice with a dark mass using a sorbent spray bag (which is a bag for bulk material, a flexible antistatic sleeve and a gasoline-powered blower).
Recall that the blackening of ice on rivers is a long-known and popular preventive procedure to prevent heavy flooding. The most problematic areas of rivers are those with dense monolithic ice or where there is a threat of ice congestion. It is there that the inert material of dark color (slag, ash, sand, etc.) is scattered. According to the laws of physics, dark areas of ice heat up faster and attract the sun's rays. Thus, the melting of the ice is much more active, forming thawing and destroying the ice.
