Kazan honored the memory of the dead liquidators of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

Today, a rally was held in Kazan in memory of the participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident who heroically fulfilled their duty. The event in honor of the 38th anniversary of the tragedy at the nuclear power plant was traditionally held at the memorial complex in the park at the intersection of Yamashev and Amirkhan avenues. The ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Chernobyl victims was attended by representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, the city executive committee and public organizations.

More than one million Soviet citizens participated in the liquidation of this disaster, of which more than 3.5 thousand people from Tatarstan. More than 2,700 people were drafted from Tatarstan through military registration and enlistment offices. Great work was done by large industrial enterprises, such as KamAZ, a helicopter plant, KAPO im. Gorbunov and others, sending hundreds of their workers.
