25 November 2015, Wednesday

Long before the formation of ice, EMERCOM staff proceeded to the work on informing people about safety rules during the period of freezing-over. Just last week, rescuers of Search and Rescue Service of the Republic of Tatarstan held lessons in 15 schools, drove round 13 rivers and water basins of the republic, where they held preventive conversations with fishermen, which are in particular risk group.

Ice on a water basin may be considered safe if its thickness is not less than 7 centimeters, and not less than 15 centimeters so that a group of people can walk on a frozen water basin safely. The firmest ice is             clear with blue or green tint without air blebs. It is also important to know that under snow ice thickens slower. In addition, snow hides cracks and scours under itself.
