"Blizzard" and Flame: large-scale tactical exercises to extinguish burning oil

18 June 2021, Friday

Training to eliminate the consequences of an emergency is a rare phenomenon for the republic and the country as a whole, because it is not a rehearsal for extinguishing, but a real battle with fire. That's why they seem so spectacular and impressive, like scenes from a movie.
The firefighters of our squad were also lucky enough to take an active part in the mass scenes of extinguishing the oil fountain. Subsequently, the film won prizes at the Cannes International Film Festival and the Houston Film Festival.
The firefighters released the flame into the wild only to tame it again – to show how to quickly and competently cope with it. And now, to the sound of a siren, a convoy of fire trucks rushes to the scene. A bright red ring of equipment is located around the burning tank. Then firefighters in heat-reflecting suits rush to it, sleeve lines stretch. At the same time, the fire-fighting headquarters is deployed on the territory of the conditional tank farm and the heads of the combat areas are appointed.
The primary task in extinguishing is to cool the walls to avoid destruction. Firefighters successfully solve it with the help of portable carriage barrels. The same purpose is served by the irrigation ring, which is equipped with a tank. At the same time, the main force – the Purga-30 foam extinguishing system-is preparing to enter the battle. Firefighters carry out a decisive foam attack. Saving snow-white flakes tightly cover the raging flames and the burning in the tank stops burning.
Training alarm, but the results are real
In total, 17 pieces of equipment and 77 personnel were involved in the training, which, according to the head of the exercise, coped with the task, and the deployment of forces and means was carried out on time without delay.
